Care About Your Care with Dr. Oz Print E-mail

ImageCare About Your Care (careaboutyourcare.org)  is a coordinated effort led by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to increase awareness about what consumers can do to identify and receive better health care.  From September 16- December 31, the Care About Your Care event will include an internet broadcast featuring popular health author and television host Dr. Mehmet Oz.  The broadcast will focus on some of the changes taking place in healthcare around the country, and it will highlight local tools that are  available for consumers to make savvy healthcare choices. The program also features a Bangor area nurse who is operating in a patient-centered medical home pilot practice that has reconfigured to lend more support to patients working to get healthy with thrilling results.

We are encouraging our members to use the webcast to assist their coworkers in understanding that healthcare quality varies and it is important.  In addition to getting some great information about how to stay healthy and active, participants who complete a brief quiz at the end of the broadcast will also be entered into a raffle for an overnight trip for 2 to New York City to see a taping of the Dr. Oz Show!  This event is also an opportunity to promote another event ...a statewide book club featuring the publication "The Healing of America".. an interesting healthcare travelog that reveals how other countries are getting better healthcare at half of the cost of America's whopping tab.  You can learn more about the book club campaign at www.getbettermaine.org

Organizations who host a webcast will be provided with promotional posters featuring Dr. Oz's photo, a script, raffle tickets,an evaluation form and a door prize.

If doing a lunch and learn is not feasible we also offer an email that can be used to promote the video.  For more information on how you can hold a Dr. Oz webcast contact Amy Deschaines at the Maine Health Management Coalition at 899-1971.
