Panel Size

Research indicates panel sizes of about 200 are necessary for adequate reliability of the summary cost and resource use measures.  Reliability of detailed service category or condition breakdowns require much larger panel sizes.  Due to a significant number of Primary Care Practices with fewer than 200 attributed Commercial patients, and at the request of individual practices and Maine Quality Counts, the Maine Health Management Coalition has generated practice reports for all practices, regardless of panel size.  The MHMC urges practices with small panel sizes to use these reports to demonstrate benchmark trends and to participate in regional trainings.
