Karen Wolk Feinstein, PhD. – Dr. Feinstein is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Jewish Healthcare Foundation (JHF) and its two supporting organizations, the Pittsburgh Regional Health Initiative (PRHI) and Health Careers Futures (HCF). In her time with PRHI, Dr. Feinstein worked with healthcare providers to completely eradicate ventilator associated pneumonia infections through the use of Toyota’s LEAN technology. Learn how her community was able to trim the fat and make care safer for the city of Pittsburgh.

Harold Miller – Harold Miller is the Executive Director of the Center for Healthcare Quality and Payment Reform (CHQPR) and the Network for Regional Health Improvement (NRHI) and works at both the regional and national levels on initiatives to improve healthcare quality and reform payment. Miller will help participants understand the key role health service payment plays in fueling the cost and quality we now know and how we can get better care and value without rationing.

Consumer Panel – MHMC’s consumer panel will showcase purchaser and consumer leadership changing Maine’s healthcare system. Health care can and must change, and given the opportunity, Maine consumers have a critical role to play to guide system transformation. Consumer and purchaser member representatives will share their goals for system change and focus on consumers’ experience of health services in Maine but most importantly what patients can do to change the system. The panel will serve as a springboard for discussions about how we engage the public with their own health to build a truly patient-centered system for 21st century health care.
